Bike Davis Proposal for Reconfiguration of County Road 32A
Bike Davis proposes a reconfiguration of County Road (CR) 32A to address safety issues at the railroad crossing and on the road itself. The reconfiguration involves using the north half of the road, or the westbound lane, as a two-way cycle track, on which westbound farm vehicles would be allowed. A barrier, increasing in height as the road widens from west to east, would separate the cycle track from the motor vehicles and still allow farm vehicles adequate space to maneuver. A center K-Rail would extend for most of the road until the I-80 off-ramp, at which point the cycle track would continue to the causeway on the north side of the road and the existing road would remain as it is now. The reconfiguration would simplify the complex intersection at the railroad crossing by removing westbound drivers, who have been particularly prone to losing control of their vehicles at the sharp right turn before the crossing. Eastbound vehicle traffic would be unaffected.
